Today I turned 40. And like everyone I know who turns 40, it is a time of sober reflection. So I would like to take this time to think about where my life is and compare it to where I thought I'd be at this age.
At this point, I thought I'd be a world renowned graphic designer living in a spacious, minimally decorated, loft space with a view of the lake. I would have married a beautiful model who would linger on my every word and we would travel the world with our two children who would do exactly as they were told!
Instead, I work in the highly anonymous world of advertising. I live in a house in the suburbs, (sorta) which is comfortably appointed once you remove all the clutter left by my two children, who are brilliant, if you can see past the fact that they are absolutely insane. To top it off, I'm married to a woman who, though lovely, constantly sees fit to call me on all of my crap.
Given where I thought I'd be, my life has turned out better than I could have ever imagined.
