I was talking to my friend Heather about raising little Black boys.
"I think it's like this, H. Raising a little Black boy is like raising a lion cub. To the lion, the cub is the most precious thing in the world. It's adorable when it scampers around in the tall grass. It has the potential to be King of the Jungle and its roar will one day send other animals scattering.
To the rest of the world, it's a f*cking lion and given a chance, it will rip your throat out.
So, while the rest of the world sees them as a threat, our job as parents is to raise them until they can roar.
After that, the world can take it's chances against a full-grown f*cking lion."
